A world where monsters are made of money, democracy is a myth, and the justice system lies in a coma.
Bertolt Brecht's satire is a mash-up of American gangster movies and Richard III, offering a searing allegory on Adolf Hitler's rise to power through the grimy lens of 1930's Chicago.
After building acclaim reviving Australian playwrights with his company Don't Look Away, Director Phil Rouse turns his attention to one of the giants of 20th century western theatre. It's a production that offers a contemporary take on Brecht's fable, honouring the classic text while illuminating the state of conservative politics in the 21st Century.
