FAQ for Current Users - Ground Floor
Problem – the heater in the main hall is blowing cold air.
Solution – check the pdf Heater Control Manual attached at the bottom of this web page.
Problem – the oven will not heat/turn on.
The oven has two controls. One for temperature and one to control the oven setting i.e. fan forced, element only (the oven has several elements), and many selections of combinations of the two.
The temperature dial only controls the temperature when the oven is on. To turn the oven on, the temperature must be set to greater than zero then adjust the dial which changes the oven from fan forced to element, to warming etc.
Solution – this problem has only happened a few times. Ask a guest at your function who has used an oven before and they will set you right.
Problem – I am trying to open a door and my key does not work
Gipps St has several levels of access using different keys. If you are trying to open a door which your key does not open, then you are not supposed to have access to that area.
Problem – I have spilt something and need a mop
There is a mop beside the door you entered from. If it is not there check the toilet area at the end of the hall or the hall cupboard. The bucket will be with the mop. Please return both to where you got them.
Solution – clean up your mess.
Problem – we need some other cleaning products or toilet paper
The cupboard in the central hallway holds some cleaning products, brooms, dustpan and buckets.
Solution – access the above cupboard – it is not locked.
Problem – I am having trouble locking the door at the end of the hall I used to enter the building through.
Solution – make sure the door is not already in the locked position.
Solution - Opening the door and slam it shut.
Problem – I am having trouble locking the bolts mounted on the door into the floor.
Solution – make sure the well the bolt goes into is clear of debris. This once occurred as children has been playing with marbles and one went into the well stopping the bolt from returning.
Solution – make sure the door is actually closed properly and the bolt and well align.
Problem – I have lost my key and can’t lock up.
Please make sure you have definitely lost your key.
You may be charged for the manager to specially attend the building.
Solution – use the managers contact details on the booking board beside the door you first entered the building through. If you don’t get a response, then call the President and then the Secretary for advice and action.
Problem I have found an urgent maintenance item
Solution – contact the manager immediately
If very serious and the manager is unavailable– contact the president or secretary whose contact details are on the booking board beside the door you first entered the building through.
Problem I have found an non-urgent maintenance item
Solution – contact the manager either via email or phone.
