BARASSI The Stage Show

Post date: Sep 20, 2012 11:43:59 PM

Over the last month, rehearsals for BARASSI The Stage Show have progressed well at our hall in Abbotsford. The first preview was last night (20 Sept) and we hope that performance went very well after all the hard work the actors and crew have put in over the months of preparation. We were very pleased to see the rehearsals for a play about such a well known Melbourne Icon take place at the Collingwood Masonic Centre, also known as Abbotsford Hall.

We wish all associated with the show the best for the coming season and thank them for looking after our hall so well.

About the show

BARASSI The Stage Show is the football meets theatre event of the year. It tells the life story of Ron Barassi, champion Aussie Rules footballer for Melbourne, premiership AFL coach of Carlton and North Melbourne and saviour of the Sydney Swans. After his father, also a Melbourne premiership player, was killed as a soldier in Tobruk, this Legacy boy, with a fervent desire, was taken in by legendary Melbourne Football coach, Norm Smith and became the league's best player . Coaches all around Australia would yell at their charges to "Get some 31 in ya!"

Played by one of Australia's finest actors, Steve Bastoni (Police Rescue, Neighbours, Underbelly), and supported by the multi-talented Jane Clifton (Prisoner, Menopause The Musical) and ex-AFL star, Russell Robertson, in his stage debut, BARASSI The Stage Show is an unforgettable experience of drama, passion, laughs, tears and songs. Explore how the fatherless boy became the legend!
