Two things which destroy buildings are fire and water.
Fire destroys them quickly and water destroys them slowly. Roof leaks have been an area of concern for some time at Gipps Street and we saw addressing that as an urgent maintenance item.
In January 2011 we made a considerable investment in our roof, re-pointing and replacing sections to ensure the building is water tight. We had leaking in several areas due to cracked tiles, missing pointing and flashing and in areas where there is corrugated iron - extensive rusting. You can see some pictures on this page showing the condition prior to those works being completed.
The works undertaken in January 2011 ensured our building no longer has roof leaks
