I did not get the chance to specifically photograph the cradle before it went under the piano, so sorry the below are not very clear as they are cropped from other pictures
We attended to the damage to the floor, but the threat of this event reoccurring remained. Initially the solution was to renew the wheels, but after discussion, one of our Volunteers had the solution and he fabricated a cradle for the piano to always sit on. Most similar items are designed to be temporarily placed under the instrument and removed after it is moved, but what he made allows the piano to sit on it always.
Last year, or it might have been the year before, we sustained some bad damage to our floor when a hirer moved our piano.Pianos sit on small wheels, fine if you want to move them a foot or two, but the ones on ours are old, and the hirer move the piano about 40 feet. When we do that, we get 6-8 blokes on the job and pick the instrument up.
